    JimMarch 9, 2023March 31, 2023

The benefits of white tea are amazing! The antioxidant power of this drink of Asian origin is unmatched.

Thanks to its nutritional value, it provides polyphenols, micronutrients and other elements that help prevent cardiovascular diseases and favor the functions of the immune system.

In addition, it is ideal for purifying the body and contributing to the elimination of toxins. If you are looking for a natural resource to take care of your body, white tea is your best option. Join me to discover everything this infusion can do for you!

    Meet white tea

The wisdom of nature is manifested with the benefits of white tea. This exquisite and comforting drink comes from the plant camellia sinensisthe same from which red tea, green tea and black tea are obtained.

The difference from white tea is that it is harvested from the most tender shoots of the plant, which are covered with a delicate white hair, hence the name.

The leaves are collected, allowed to wither naturally and are then subjected to a careful drying process that preserves their properties intact. It has a light flavor and a velvety texture that classify it as one of the drinks most exclusive and luxurious that exist in the world.

    History of white tea

White tea began its production and consumption in China. But, there are different versions about the dates on which it became popular. Some historians claim that it was discovered during the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century.

Later, it became the favorite drink of traditional tea ceremonies in the Asian country, since it was made with precisely selected tender shoots. Of course, it was only consumed by the upper classes, although its production later spread to other less privileged regions.

It was not until the 19th century that the benefits of white tea were made known in Europe thanks to a publication in the United Kingdom, from there its production process was improved and then marketed in America.

    Properties and nutritional value

White tea is rich in antioxidants, flavonoids, and micronutrients that support the well-being of our immune and cardiovascular systems. A cup can provide:

    • 5% flavonoids
    • 0.1 grams of protein
    • 30% catechins
    • 4% theanine
    • 0.1 grams of total fat
    • 2 calories
    • 0.4 grams of carbohydrates

Like green, black and red, white tea has moisturizing, digestive and antibacterial properties, since they all come from the same plant. But, the difference is that the latter is one of the least processed, which is why it provides multiple health benefits.

A cup of white tea provides very few calories and helps to keep you full; these conditions make it a great ally for slim downsince you can take it between meals to mitigate anxiety.

    How to prepare white tea

    Varieties of white tea

There are two well-known variants of white tea on the market:

Silver Needles: It is made from select unopened growth buds, which have small hairs that give it a curious silver color. It has an exquisite and ultra light flavor. Its production is exclusive to China, therefore it is usually expensive.

Pai Mu Tan: this variant includes shoots and leaves, hence its green and silver hue. It is harvested manually and is mostly produced in the Fujian province. It sells for a more affordable price than Silver Needles.

    How is white tea prepared?

To obtain the benefits of white tea, you must infuse for a short time and at a medium temperature, since boiling water modifies its flavor and decreases its properties.

➤ Heat the water to a maximum of 80 ° C, fill the cup and add about 4 grams of tea if it is loose, if it is in a bag, one will suffice. Cover the cup and let sit for 2 minutes and it’s ready to drink.

As it is a light tea, I recommend you always drink it hot so that you can really appreciate its flavor.
